Mariemont Village Yard Sale!

This is the Village of Mariemont:
This is my view when I look out my kitchen window.
There is a Graeters next to the theater
and a Starbucks to the left. :)
Today was the village yard sale!!
I slept in and thought I had missed all the good finds,
but I'm so glad I didn't get out earlier because
by the time I came around the neighbors were tired
and ready to give their stuff away!

These "thankful" napkins were $2 for 8
They need to be ironed, but I can't wait to use them for Thanksgiving!
I love the font!

Of course, I have to buy earrings at yard sales.
Don't worry I wash them!!
2 for $1

I was looking at this nice lampshade to find the price
and the lady said I could have it for free!!
Thank you cute lady in the Lily Pulitzer dress!

And here is my favorite find:
They were asking $75, but I got it for $40!
It's a cute table and 2 chairs. (iron and leather)
Now I just have to find a spot for it :)
My whole apartment is turned upside down
because I keep moving them from room to room
trying to figure out where it looks best.
It is currently a little breakfast table,
but who knows where else I may move it!?
Any ideas?

welcome home!

My sweet husband has been in Louisville this week while I took a summer class at home.
I missed him so much.
He drove up to see me one night and brought some friends to visit another night, but it had been a long week and I couldn't wait for him to get home! I tried to keep myself busy when I came home from work today. I baked those yummy cookies :) walked around the neighborhood and searched for recipes online! I took Vali on a walk and she sat down right by the driveway, as if she knew Patrick would be home soon. So we sat there and waited... and waited...I'm so glad he is home! We had breakfast for dinner. Isn't that fun!?!
Pancakes with strawberries and bananas
lots of syrup and powdered sugar *
Eggs and Cereal
and Vali waited patiently to play with her squirrel after dinner.

Chocolate Chip & Butterscotch Cookies

In my Speech and Composition Class Senior Year
my friend Randi brought in some delicious cookies for the class.
She gave me the recipe and they are, by far, my favorite cookies!!
I made some tonight and thought I'd share some with you :)
It's so simple:

Preheat oven to 350 F

One package of Betty Crocker Butter Recipe Yellow Cake Mix

2 eggs and 1/2 cup of oil

1/2 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 bag of butterscotch chips
(or more!)

Mix well...

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes at 350 F
Look at these yummy cookies:

Enjoy!!

a few things i like...

Vintage Cobalt Blue Locker Storage Baskets:
Poplar Fabric in Robin's Egg:
Chain Stitch Pillow in Wendy's Garden:
and my favorite...
a blue polka dot enamel mug:

The Container Store

I love to organize.
I love to be messy.
It's a perfect combination.
I am messy several days and
make lovely piles in corners of a room.
Then I spend an afternoon organizing my piles
and putting it away correctly.

The Container Store
recently came to Cincinnati's Kenwood Mall
(which is far too close to my apartment)
and it's an organizer's dream!!!

What if all of my pasta and cereal
was stored like this:

This next one may be a little too much
organization for me,
but I do love when everything
has a special place.
and look at those bulletin boards :) What if your closet looked like this:
and look at this adorable gift wrap!
Who wouldn't just LOVE a gift wrapped with this:

Popsicles

There is nothing better than an icy Popsicle on a hot summer day.
My mom had to buy so many boxes of popsicles. We went through them very quickly!
Finally she just started buying the huge packs of these:
The Popsicle® ice pop was accidentally invented in 1905 by 11-year-old Frank Epperson. Epperson left a mixture of powdered soda and water and a stirring stick in a cup on his porch. That night San Francisco experienced record low temperatures, and Epperson awoke the next morning to find a frozen pop that would eventually become a favorite American treat.

Make some of your own this week.
Fill up ice cube trays with Kool-aid or a smoothie.
Dixie cups are also great molds for popsicles.

I'm Sailing!

Communication

I am taking a class this week:
Theories of Psychotherapy
I love it!
Today I was reminded of a
statistic I had heard before...

"Communication is
55% nonverbal
38% tone of voice
only 7% actual words"

What are you saying?

CHIO

I am not a ChiOmega but because practically all
of my girlfriends are I have been noticing clothing
and decorations with Owls on it.
Here ya go girls:
Owl Give A Hoot Women's T shirt:
This little owl might be a little tacky,
but in the right spot it may be alright.
Vintage Owl Trivet
:
Spotted Owl Bobby Pins:

1.2.3...Cheese!!

Wouldn't you love to pose in front of this camera
in a long dress and red lipstick :)

yum... now help me decide between these two:

silver or black ??? What is your choice?

Amo Vestidos

The word "dress" can be defined as:
"a one piece outer garment of women or girls"

Don't let your dress hang on you like on a hanger.
(although any dress would look cute on these hangers*)
Don't just wear a "one piece outer garment".
Change your definition of a dress.
Make a statement with the dress itself or add
jewelry and fun shoes to define your style dress.

kate spade

I think it was sometime in Middle School, when all the girls
HAD to have a Kate Spade Purse.

Or you just weren't cool.

They were really cute purses, but way too expensive
for my low babysitter budget (and still too expensive :) )
It's sad how I felt I needed to have something
Kate Spade or I wouldn't fit in.
I don't think I ever got one, but who cares,
the next year they were onto a different designer.
Coach? maybe...

I was looking online the other day
at Kate Spade
and found these wonderful things:

I remember why I loved the purses so much :)
