Squeaky Clean

Can't believe that one year ago I was bathing a wiggling newborn and now he sits so big and sips water from the faucet.  Wow!

Happy 21st Aunt Sadie!

beautiful fun & encouraging... that's Sadie!
Wishing you a special and joy-filled day.
Happy Birthday Sadie- We love you!

Snow Day!

We woke up to a beautiful snowy morning!  I opened the living room curtains and John Ryman said "wow"!  Knowing it would melt quickly, we bundled up in layers (since we don't own any snow outfits or thick winter coats in TX) and headed outside with the furs.  This was John Ryman's first time to play in the snow because we were stuck in the airport last time it snowed here and we just admired the snow in Louisville, didn't actually play in it.
 (Trying to say "snow")

 (crazy bed head!)
Something about the snow makes the furs go wild- they immediately start wrestling... chasing... and rolling in the snow!

(watching the furs run in circles)

remembering about a year ago JR saw his first snowflakes (just over one month old) {here}
Maybe next year we can try sledding or a snow man!

Christmas with our families

After we ALL slept in until just before 11am, my mom made a special breakfast to recreate Christmas morning.  They had even saved some gifts to open with all of us :)
(he sure can reach with his long arms!)
 (perfect patrick gift)
(John Ryman kept picking up baby Jesus from the manger and patting him over his shoulder saying "baby"- so sweet, until he would throw him down...)
(just another classy gift from my parents- ha!)

(JR loved opening gifts with Aunt Sadie)
 (fun toy from Alaska)
(beautiful Christmas breakfast with the classic cinnamon rolls!!)
(Everything was delicious and thankfully we were also able to enjoy my mom's Christmas dinner the night before- perfect 3am dinner!)
I was so terrible at taking pictures while we were in Louisville.  Not only was it difficult keeping an eye on JR around fragile nativities, fireplaces and Christmas trees, but I also wanted to sit back and enjoy without a camera in my face :)  That's why many of these are from Patrick's phone and ya know what, I'm totally okay with it!
After a "Christmas" at my parents we headed over to see all the Garcias for a special Christmas Dinner!  Sure worked out nice for us that we could celebrate with everyone on the 26th.  What a joy to see family and all the cousins running around!  I don't think JR knew what to do at first :) he just kinda nonstop wanders and runs, maybe one day he will learn to play in one area? haha
 (JR loves his Uncle Daniel!)
(probably saying "baby" to sweet Griffin)
(JR learned to say "puppy" or "peeeessss"(for puppies) just before our trip- he was showing Lily his puppy named Buddy.)

More posts to come- including a Zoo Birthday Party for our 1 yr old!!

Christmas Morning 2012

Our family at one of the 7 AMAZING Christmas services at Compass:

Christmas Eve just before reading Twas the Night before Christmas:
(acting like a big 1 year old!)

a happy boy on Christmas morning:

What a sweet Christmas morning with our boy!  JR let us sleep in a little bit and we all enjoyed breakfast together.  He had just a few gifts to open (we knew lots of gifts were coming in ky!) and the furs even got some new squeaky toys :)

The rest of the morning was spent cleaning & packing for our 1pm flight out to Louisville.  On route to the airport, we found out the flight had been canceled.  Knowing a phone call wouldn't help, we continued to the airport where we were directed onto a 3:30 flight... didn't board until after 4 and after the snow had started falling.  Yes, SNOW in TX on Christmas Day- so beautiful!!  But then of course they had no idea what to do with the snow and icy conditions.  After boarding the plane, we were stuck on the plane until 11pm!!  Thankfully we had enough milk & snacks for JR and Patrick was able to get off the plane once to get a pizza, but wow- what a crazy exhausted Christmas evening.  JR did incredible- his best flight ever!  He was so intrigued by all the lights and carts outside the plane, the dogs barking a few rows behind us, and a cute little boy sitting behind JR that played peekaboo.  But boy was this momma exhausted after trying to occupy him for so many hours on our laps and he only napped for a total of 1 1/2 hours.  My sweet mom had made a delicious Christmas dinner for us- for a 6pm dinner and then they waited up for us until we got in close to 2pm at the house!  It was a whirlwind of a Christmas day, but in the end JR was happy & we made it to Louisville.  Definitely a Christmas to remember :)

(this is how we all looked after a day on one airplane!)
(my favorite moment on Christmas Day- a cuddly and sleepy boy!)
